Finca Rosma is owned and operated by Fredy Morales, who inherited the farm from his father Alejandro Morales, over 20 years ago. The farm was named after Fredy’s grandmother Rosemarie, “Rosma” for short. Since taking over operation of the farm Freddy has focused strongly on quality by improving infrastructure and processing in and around the farm.
Fredy has constructed roads connecting him, and his neighbors, to the nearby towns. Fredy also connected his farm to a natural spring about 5km away. This has greatly improved his ability to irrigate and wash his coffee. By far his crowning achievement has been the construction of a coffee mill on the farm. All of these achieve- ments are made more impressive when you consider the incredibly steep topography of the area Rosma is located. Along with improving infrastructure Finca Rosma provides housing, school, and medical care to the families that work the farm
This is the 4th year Heart has purchased coffee from Rosma and we knew we had to have it again this year. Finca Rosma has twice been in the top 10 in Guatemala’s cup of excellence competition and placed in the national competition this year. Again, we found Rosma to be incredibly sweet and lively. We’re excited to offer Rosma as our first Guatemalan of the year!
